And the winner of the Junior Chef competition is...

(SPS) - Seven Sapulpa elementary school students faced off in the district Junior Chef competition on April 18.

The students who competed for the Junior Chef title are:

Avianna Perez of Freedom Elem. - Chicken Teriyaki
Tristan Little of Freedom Elem. - Tator Tot Casserole
Gage Mazza of Freedom Elem. - Cajun Chicken Pasta
Sofia Perez of Holmes Park Elem. - Picadillo
Tatum Miller of Holmes Park Elem. - White Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
Kallee Gore of Holmes Park Elem. - Tamale Pie Casserole
Morriah Lee Cox of Holmes Park Elem. - Cox Healthy Meal Prep (recipe developed by the family)

The students were paired with a member of the Child Nutrition Staff and had one hour to complete their dish in the Holmes Park kitchen.

Once the hour was up, the contestants headed over to the panel of judges, one at a time, who taste-tested each of the dishes.

The winner was Avianna Perez. She won a $100 VISA gift car. Second place, and a $75 gift card, went to Gage Mazza. Rounding out the top three was Morriah Lee Cox who took home $50. Check out the winning recipes here.

The judges were Sapulpa Public Schools Superintendent Rob Armstrong, Freedom Elementary Counselor Eryn Wallis, and Holmes Park Elementary Assistant Principal Ray Pinney.
