SPS marks National School Counseling Week
Posted on 02/07/2022
(SPS) -- February 7 through 11 is National School Counseling Week, and Sapulpa Public Schools is showing our appreciation for our dedicated team of school counselors.

National School Counseling Week has been  celebrated in schools across the nation since 1980. Every year, National School Counseling Week recognizes school counselors and the work they do for our students every day. National School Counseling Week is promoted by the American School Counselor Association to raise awareness for counselors' critical work in education.

At SPS, our amazing counselors do things such as enrollment, help students prepare for college, organize testing, offer academic guidance, and guide students through personal or family crises.

Michale Stanley of Sapulpa Junior High says her favorite part about being a school counselor is the relationship she has with her students.

“It's the perfect job for me, I love the relationship with the students,” said Stanley.

Rebecca Bilby of Sapulpa High School says seeing students grow makes the job worth it for her.

Take some time this week to thank a special school counselor who has made an impact on your life. Keep an eye on the district Facebook page for spotlights of our counselors throughout the week.
