Sapulpa Ping Pings earn state titles

(SPS) -- The Sapulpa High School Ping Pings have proven once again they are a force to be reckoned with on the dance floor.

For the 9th consecutive year, the Ping Pings Dance Team earned Oklahoma State Dance Team Directors' Association (OSDTDA) state championship titles. This year they placed first in 5A Kick and 5A Mix -- two highly competitive categories. The Pings also received coveted High Point awards in both Kick and Mix.

They also laid claim to first place in Large Senior Ensemble, which included Brooklyn Berry, Ryann Hoey, Jaselyn Rossman, Pearl Smith, Kiley Sontag, Maddie Craig and Brooklin Latham. Senior Brooklyn Berry placed third for her solo dance performance.

The Pings competed in front of a live audience at Cox Business Convention Center in downtown Tulsa on December 17th and 18th. This is in contrast to last year, when their dances were submitted on video.

Pings head coach Molly Heritage, who has coached the team for five years, was also recognized as OSDTDA's East Region Coach of the Year. She says it's an award she is proud and humbled to receive.

Congratulations to Coach Heritage, assistant coach Jenny Gardella and the Pings on these well-deserved awards! The hard work isn't over yet, however. The Pings are preparing for the Dance Team Union (DTU) National competition later this year.
